Deadmau5 Star Image

Deadmau5 has made himself and the "Mau5head" an iconic brand image.  This means that when people see this image they instantly will recognise this to be associated with him and his music. His brand image and name he has made for himself perpetuates his celebrity status.

He has links with other media,  He has played at the winter olympics.  There are connotations with the music style he plays and these snow sports such as snowboarding and skiing.  This means that he reaching out to his target audience directly.

He has a retro styled tattoo of a space invader on his neck.  This has connotations with the electric music and the old school retro style to his music and his style.

He has used cross media convergences as he was recently featured in the DJ Hero game with his music.  This again reaches out to another area of his fan basis and gets more people aware, involved and listening to his music.

He uses many different technological gadgets in his shows such as his new flying V as he call it.  Which is part of his image as an artist and emphasises the electronic/house music he plays.

Eye of the Tiger

When we did our lip Sync task we found out a number of things that will be involved with making our music video.

The first is the editing.  We needed a wider range of shots in our video, most of the shots are mid shots.  Also we need consider this when we come to making our music video, as a range of shots will keep the audience interested.

We also learnt how to use editing on the Macs with Final Cut Pro, I found using this difficult at first and still struggled when it came to exporting it as a video file to quicktime player.

I think if I looked at it a bit more I would come to grips with it.  Also for our video I would like to add effects into our video, this also is done in Final Cut Pro so I would need to learn this as well.

In this video we did not really have much choice as to where we shot the video but being in school we just had a classroom or outside.  In our actual video we will choose the background carefully to fit in with the style and genre of the music.

We did not stick to the conventions of a music video also. In a conventional music video there is quick edits of about 3-4 seconds long.  Each of our edits lasted much longer than this.  In our music video we will look to have quick successive edits.

Decision- Editing

I have now looked at enough videos to see there are the basic techniques such as dolly shots, jump cuts and match on action.

They amplify the  music by showing repetitive things in life.  We will aim in our music video to show repetitive things in ours but not the same as they show in the Over and Over Video so then we will incorporate our originality.

We will also look to use the dolly shots, match on action shots and other editing techniques common to music videos.  We will use these to make our video original and different form these that I have looked at.
